On January 27, TCA hosted a meeting with students from the American Studies Program at Bahcesehir University in Istanbul as part of the group’s visit to Washington, D.C. During the session, TCA gave presentations and answered questions about the U.S. government, civic engagement, congressional caucuses, and TCA programs and activities.
On January 28, TCA accompanied the Bahcesehir students on a tour of the U.S. Capitol and facilitated meetings on Capitol Hill with several congressional offices. The group had the chance to speak with staffers of Members of Congress about the activities of the U.S. Congress and U.S.-Turkey relations. Two of the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Caucus on U.S.-Turkey Relations and Turkish Americans, Representative Virginia Foxx (R-NC/5th) and Representative Ed Whitfield (R-KY/1st) also addressed the students, sharing their perspectives on the importance of a positive U.S.-Turkish relationship.
