Three outstanding component associations of the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) received TCA grant awards of $5,000 each at the Gala and Awards Ceremony of ATAA’s 36th Annual National Leadership Conference in Washington, DC, on February 27. The recipients are the American Turkish Association of Washington DC (ATA-DC), the American Turkish Association of North Carolina (ATA-NC), and the American Turkish Association of Southern California (ATASC).
The awards recognize the accomplishments during the past year of the three top component associations in grassroots organization, engagement with the Turkish American community, outreach to elected officials in the United States, civic activism, promotion of Turkish culture and heritage in the community, and outreach programs to young Turkish Americans.
The winners were selected based on the results of a survey conducted by TCA and ATAA.
All ATAA component associations nation-wide were invited to participate in the survey. Additionally, to qualify for the grant awards associations had to be a member in good standing and have representation at ATAA’s annual conference.
