This summer, TCA welcomes 17 interns to Washington, DC to participate in the 2016 Washington Summer Internship Program. Seven will spend their summer on Capitol Hill in the offices of Reps. Robert Aderholt (R-AL/4th), Barbara Comstock (R-VA/16th), Henry Cuellar (D-TX/28th), Alan Grayson (D-FL/9th), Frank Guinta (R-NH/1st), Alcee Hastings (D-FL/20th), and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL/16th). Other interns will work at the Atlantic Council, the Turkish Industry and Business Council (TUSIAD), the Union of Chambers and Commodity exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), the Turkish Heritage Organization (THO), the American Turkish Council (ATC), the Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina (ACBH), and TCA.
TCA’s Washington Summer Internship Program provides young Turkish Americans from across the country with the opportunity to intern in Washington, DC with members of the U.S. Congress and select governmental and non-governmental organizations. The program provides an opportunity for Turkish American college students and recent graduates to work in the nation’s capital and aims to foster young Turkish Americans’ interest in public affairs and service and enhance their knowledge of American political life. Since the program’s inception in 2007, TCA has provided a total of 163 internship opportunities to Turkish Americans and friends of Turkey through its Washington Summer Internship Program.
On Wednesday, June 8, several interns attended a welcome reception at TCA’s Washington, DC office. Interns from the United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) and ACBH joined TCA summer interns for a tour of the office and the chance to meet one another.
